After 10 years of implementation, the Peru Cacao Alliance (PCA), a USAID Global Development Alliance (GDA), held its closing ceremony. The event attracted over 150 guests, including cacao producers, representatives of Peru’s counternarcotics agency (DEVIDA) and Ministry of Agriculture (MIDAGRI), technological partners, businesses (including input suppliers and cacao/chocolate exporters), financial institutions, chocolatiers, and representatives of the International Chocolate Awards, among others. PCA has transformed communities and brought about sustainable development. For each dollar the USG invested in the PCA, private sector partners invested almost two dollar.

ALLIANCE WITH PARTNERS IN HEALTH

USAID partnership with Socios en Salud, the Peruvian affiliate of the U.S. non-profit organization Partners in Health, responds to COVID-19 in Peru. This Alliance supports aggressive contact tracing, community mobilization, and systematic screening and isolation to prevent community spread of COVID-19. The $8,261,090 million investment from USAID mobilizes additional $1 million from Boston-based Partners in Health.

In La Merced, Chanchamayo, the Community of Specialty Coffees project was launched, an initiative promoted by Central Café & Cacao del Perú, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development, USAID. The purpose of the project is to promote and enhance knowledge and technical skills to improve the economy of coffee-growing families, under a sustainable and climate-smart agriculture approach. By 2026, it is expected to benefit more than 3,000 producers in central and southern Peru.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)  presented the initiatives Together for Conservation and ECOS in a ceremony attended by government authorities, public ministry, diplomatic corps, and representatives of civil society organizations.

Mayo 2022.- Lograr reunir a sus más de 40 entidades socias, aunque de manera virtual, es para el Proyecto de Inclusión Económica (EIP) la validación del objetivo común de trabajar por fortalecer capacidades que permiten generar mejores oportunidades para la población migrante y refugiada venezolana, y las comunidades locales vulnerables en Perú y Ecuador.
