During her June 13-17, 2021 trip, USAID Administrator Samantha Power announced the following new initiatives to promote good governance and expand opportunities that will enable the people of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras to build hopeful futures at home.

U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator Samantha Power traveled to Guatemala City and Huehuetenango, Guatemala on June 15-16, 2021 to assess and expand USAID development programs and humanitarian assistance activities with a focus on promoting inclusive economic growth and good governance.

Yesterday, while on travel to Guatemala, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power formally launched the Guatemala Entrepreneurship and Development Innovation initiative, an almost $39 million alliance with international and local private sector partners to scale technology-driven, market-led solutions to critical development challenges throughout the country. The initiative was first announced by Vice President Harris on June 7, 2021, during her trip to Guatemala.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power traveled to San Salvador, El Salvador, on June 14, 2021, to assess USAID programs that are promoting economic growth, security, and good governance in the country.

While on travel to El Salvador, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power launched the Regional Challenge to Advance Gender Equality in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, a new USAID effort to advance gender equality and increase women’s access, agency, and power. The challenge will start in the fall of 2021, and will include $5 million in USAID funding.
