About Libya
Stay Connected:
Since the overthrow of the Gaddhafi dictatorship in 2011, the U.S. government has invested more than $900 million in development, security, and humanitarian assistance in Libya. Since 2011, USAID has partnered with national and sub-national Libyan institutions, civil society, and the private sector to strengthen the foundations of a more stable, inclusive, and unified Libyan state. USAID assistance has helped Libyans through programs to improve the delivery of public services, increase opportunities for trade and investment, and promote the transparent management of public finances to benefit all Libyans.
USAID remains focused on supporting Libyans in choosing their leaders through inclusive, democratic processes and helping the country capitalize on its economic potential. Through its humanitarian, stabilization, and development assistance, USAID is responding to the immediate needs of conflict-affected Libyans, supporting Libyans to address drivers of instability and conflict, and promoting transparent and accountable governance for all Libyans.
