Deputy Assistant Administrator

Craig Hart has served as the USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for East Asia and the Pacific since August 2020. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Mission Director for the U.S. Agency for Development in Hanoi, Vietnam from 2016 to 2020.  Previous overseas assignments include Tanzania, Afghanistan, and the Republic of Georgia. Mr. Hart joined the Foreign Service in 2005 and is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor.

Prior to USAID, he served for ten years with the U.S. Peace Corps, including as Country Director in Armenia, Deputy Director in Russia, and as a Volunteer in the Russian Far East. A native of Kentucky, he holds a B.A. degree from the University of Kentucky, a M.Ed. degree from the University of Vermont, a M.S. degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College, and was a Seminar XXI Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
