Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through the Agriculture Resilience Initiative - Ukraine (AGRI-Ukraine), announced a new partnership with Bayer to address the immediate and longer-term demand for corn seed among Ukrainian farmers and other countries that depend on seed from Ukraine.
On September 23, a United Nations-appointed panel of independent experts released a statement concluding that Russian Federation forces have committed war crimes in Ukraine, an announcement that follows an earlier U.S. Government assessment, released in March.
Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Ukraine’s Minister of Communities and Territorial Development (MCTD), Oleksiy Chernyshov, to discuss Ukraine’s urgent need for repairs to its infrastructure and energy sector, two routine targets of Putin’s war.
The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, is providing an additional $4.5 billion in direct budgetary support to the Government of Ukraine to help alleviate the acute budget deficit caused by Putin’s brutal war of aggression. The Government of Ukraine will receive the funding in tranches, beginning with a $3 billion disbursement in August. This contribution was made possible with generous bipartisan support from Congress.
On August 1, Administrator Samantha Power met with Howard G. Buffett, Chairman and CEO of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, to discuss the urgent global food security crisis exacerbated by Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.
