President Biden announced that USAID is providing $225+ million in additional humanitarian assistance to Ukraine amidst Russia’s war. This funding will provide lifesaving humanitarian food assistance, safe drinking water, shelter assistance, and more to people inside Ukraine. Global Health lead Atul Gawande traveled to Accra, Ghana to meet with local partners working with USAID on health initiatives. They discussed the most pressing health issues in Ghana, including child and maternal health, HIV/AIDS, and vaccinating 22.9 million people by the end of 2023. Administrator Power spoke to members of the U.S. Global Leadership. Coalition at the 2022 Global Impact Forum. She highlighted USAID’s work on the food security crisis caused by COVID-19, climate change, and Russia’s war on Ukraine. Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman traveled to Switzerland to attend the 53rd annual Tidewater meeting. She shared how USAID is working to maximize the impact of development assistance and improve adaptability to humanitarian crises.
