The U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability sets forth a framework for U.S. government efforts to prevent conflict, stabilize conflict-affected areas, and address global fragility, in line with the Global Fragility Act of 2019. America’s prosperity and security depend on peaceful, self-reliant, U.S. economic and security partners.
This is the decisive decade for our planet and our future. Egypt is highly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change, including water scarcity, drought, extreme heat, rising sea levels, and food insecurity. That’s why the U.S. Government is committed to working with the Egyptian government and private sector to respond to the climate crisis.
To better characterize conditions and guide urgent and long-term responses, the Liberian Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) is undertaking a Rapid Food Security, Livelihoods, Markets and Nutrition Assessment with the support of the U.N., USAID, and other donors. Results of the rapid assessment are expected in August 2022. A new comprehensive food security and nutrition assessment is anticipated to start in October 2022.
Citizen Engagement Activity is a five-year activity designed to foster a culture of grassroots activism in Kosovo that leads to improved communities and enhanced quality of life for citizens. The activity will energize community activists, build a robust and trustworthy civil society, expand cooperation across sectors, increase government accountability, and diversify and mobilize resources both domestically and abroad to create change at the local level.
ENERGIZE COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS AND STRENGTHEN CIVIL SOCIETY LINKS TO CONSTITUENTS
USAID’s Justice Activity is a five-year initiative designed to strengthen Kosovo’s justice system by applying a people-centered approach to justice. The Activity improves institutional capacity and provides people access to quality services and multiple means for solving justice needs and everyday legal problems. It generates greater public trust in the justice system and rule of law.
Many factors have restricted girls’ and young women’s access to a formal education in Somalia, including economic issues, political instability, in addition to traditions like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and required housework. The inequality between boys’ and girls’ education is apparent. Low enrollment rates in schools are apparent throughout the country, and girls’ enrollment rates are significantly lower. Education opportunities for many Somali children are somewhat limited, especially for girls.
USAID’s Property Governance Activity, is a five-year initiative that aims to improve the property rights system in Kosovo, reduce corruption, increase women’s empowerment, and improve formal property rights and investments in real property. The activity, in partnership with civil society, the private sector, and other local actors will advance Kosovo’s economic and democratic development.
The USAID Mission in Ukraine continues to transform its programming to meet the urgent needs of the Ukrainian people following Russia’s full-scale invasion. All USAID/Ukraine programs remain active and we continue to invest in more than 40 activities implemented by more than 700 implementing partner staff in the country. This responds to immediate, evolving needs and advances Ukraine’s long-term development as an independent, democratic, and prosperous society.
USFS activities in Central Africa focus on building the capacity of national and regional institutions to execute their mandates in sustainable forest management, climate change, and biodiversity conservation. At both the national and regional levels, USFS works principally with four Congo Basin countries – Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, and Gabon – and will explore opportunities in the Central African Republic – to help them develop the institutions and mechanisms necessary to monitor, plan, and protect the rich forest resources with which they are endowed.
