On December 13-15, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power will attend the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit and reinforce the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to revitalizing global partnerships and alliances.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with the U.S. Department of State launched Safe from the Start ReVisioned, an initiative that focuses on improving and expanding protection services for women and girls from the start of every conflict or disaster. Because crises like natural disasters or conflicts exacerbate conditions of inequality, they disproportionately impact women and girls.
On December 5, Administrator Samantha Power met with Dr. Sohn Hyuk-Sang, President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Administrator Power and Dr. Sohn discussed the USAID-KOICA work plan for 2023–2025, which outlines a three-year plan to work together to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including increasing assistance to Ukraine in response to Russia’s brutal war, bolstering the Indo-Pacific’s resilience to climate change, and addressing global public health.
Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Jay Koh, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Lightsmith Group, LLC, a private equity and venture capital firm that addresses critical social needs, to discuss support for private investment in climate adaptation and resilience in developing countries.
Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with President of Moldova Maia Sandu to discuss U.S. support for the people of Moldova, as well as President Sandu’s anti-corruption and democratic reform agenda.

On December 2, Administrator Samantha Power met with Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov to discuss USAID’s support for Ukraine's digital transformation to enhance the resilience of the Government of Ukraine and ensure uninterrupted access to online government services in wartime for its citizens.
The United States strongly endorses the ongoing bilateral discussions between Armenia and Azerbaijan towards a comprehensive peace agreement. On November 28, USAID awarded the “South Caucasus Transportation Assessment” to support greater regional economic connectivity, which will bolster peace and reconciliation efforts.
On December 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. EST, USAID Administrator Samantha Power will give remarks at the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) opening plenary on “Uprooting Corruption, Defending Democratic Values.”
Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Ali Sabry to further USAID’s understanding of the Government of Sri Lanka’s priorities and reforms to address the country’s economic crisis.
