Good morning everyone, and thank you, Sunday, for that introduction. It’s been the highlight of my trip to Zambia so far to hear about all that Good Nature Agro has accomplished in the fight against food insecurity and poverty, and thank you for the tour of the warehouse. I can honestly say, I’ve learned more about legumes than I ever thought I would! It was also wonderful to speak with Samson Nyendwa from Corteva Agriscience. Samson and his team work closely with USAID and our coalition of private sector partners to provide smallholder farmers with healthy seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, while also working with global NGOs and partners like John Deere to increase access to updated farming equipment. Thank you for being here Samson.

So I think what happened out of the Summit for Democracies is President Biden launched an initiative for Democratic renewal, as you mentioned.  And the idea here is, you know, of course, to try to recapture some of the momentum that democracy had a couple of decades ago really is probably the last time you could say it had full throttled momentum and to try to look at the toolkit that had developed over time.  And I want to stress, you know, many of those tools are still incredibly valuable in deploying election monitors in advance of elections, of course, training independent media, training judiciary, trying to build the rule of law, which is, of course, is foundational for checks and balances and for democratic accountability.

USAID is currently working to increase the distribution of drought-tolerant seeds in Senegal, installing solar-power refrigerators in rural markets to avoid food spoilage in Nigeria, and using satellite imagery to help Ethiopian farmers optimize their fertilizer application so none is wasted. We want to scale these efforts as well to other communities and other nations.

I'm delighted to be here today for this important ‘Delegation Day - Celebrating Partners’ event. I want to thank CE SAIN and Royal University of Agriculture for hosting this event. Today's event honors delegations from different countries who are here today.  Your presence gives us a great opportunity to learn from each other.

I am delighted to be here with you to launch the “Protect Our Wildlife: Reduce Buying and Eating Bushmeat” campaign. Wildlife is an integral part of Cambodia's national heritage and plays an important role in maintaining ecosystem services that benefit people and the economy. But Cambodia’s natural resources and wildlife are disappearing from forests and protected areas.

It will be up to Reed, with his Ohio-rooted work ethic, his can-do attitude, his long career working in Asian affairs, and his demonstrated ability to handle any challenge that comes his way, to embark upon a new chapter in our relationship with the people of Pakistan, and I am thrilled he’s taking up the charge.

Good morning. On behalf of the United States government, I am pleased to be here today as US AID launches an exciting new partnership with Absa Bank Zambia and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (or, DFC).

It is an honor to launch another partnership with the private sector. With this new partnership, our goal is to spur greater investment in agriculture, promote investment in clean energy for cooking, and support both the manufacturing and tourism industries.

Good morning.

It is my pleasure to be here with you today to participate in the launch of the Labour Market Assessment Report commissioned by the DREAMS Program. Protecting adolescent girls and young women from HIV is at the heart of the U.S. government’s DREAMS program, which supports young women to be Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe.

The program is implemented in 9 districts by USAID, funded through PEPFAR, and in partnership with the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service and other ministries.

While the Tonle Sap has always been a critical element of Cambodia's food supply, the lake and its surrounding ecosystem are coming under increasing pressure from over-exploitation, habitat degradation, fragmentation, and loss.  Fisheries production has declined significantly in the last decade.
